aka SMART Boards

"The SMART Board is an interactive whiteboard that turns your computer and data projector into a powerful tool for teaching and presenting. With the computer image projected on the Board, simply use your finger and press on the large touchsensitive surface to control the computer. This allows... students or teachers to do presentations from the front of the room instead of having to be at the computer."

Notebook software comes with your SMART Board and will be installed on your classroom machine. It is similar to PowerPoint™ but is built for the powers of the board. It is not necessary to use Notebook™ as most applications will work on the board. If you would like to experiment with Notebook™ at home, you can download <here>. You will need a board serial number. I have included the serial number in an e-mail to you.

"The SMART Notebook Math beta brings interactivity and fun to learning. It extends the capabilities of SMART Notebook software, so you can create, teach and explore dynamic math lessons within the same software you know and love." This is new and has been installed on classroom machines of math and science teachers. Click <here> to download and explore at home. (PC only at this point.)

A classroom set of SMART Response Devices (formerly known as SENTEO) are available for your use. This technology, "provides a direct connection between you and your students. The system includes a remote for each student in your class and a central receiver that allows you to quiz and survey students, and receive instant feedback. With Senteo™, you no longer have to wonder if students understand what you’ve taught them. They can tell you with the click of a button."

Do you have a 3D object you'd like to share with your students? Would you like to demonstrate masking with liquid frisket in a watercolor class? Want to share your post cards from Tahiti? Adding Elmo to your IWB might be the way to go. ELMO, aka Electricity Light Machine Organization, not to be confused with the Muppet's character, is a document camera that connects to your computer. You can display, manipulate, and capture images of whatever is placed on the viewing tray.
